Travel Date June 2023: After the mesmerizing Boz Scaggs show in Lexington, Kentucky, my van and I hit the road the following morning, leaving behind fond memories and heading north towards the charming town of Georgetown. Nestled in the heart of the Bluegrass State, Georgetown offered not only a quaint atmosphere but also a delightful culinary surprise that I couldn’t wait to savor.

Discovering Georgetown, KY

Georgetown, Kentucky, welcomed me with its historic charm and picturesque streets. Known for its rich history and vibrant community, this town exudes a sense of Southern hospitality that immediately made me feel at home. As I wandered through its streets, I couldn’t help but appreciate the town’s unique blend of tradition and modernity.

Fava’s Restaurant: A Culinary Gem

My exploration of Georgetown wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to the renowned Fava’s Restaurant. This local gem has earned a reputation for offering a delectable array of dishes, showcasing the flavors of Kentucky. The restaurant’s inviting ambiance and the warm, friendly service of the staff added to the overall experience, making it the perfect stop on my van trip north.

Savoring the Kentucky Hot Brown: What is Kentucky Hot Brown?

One dish, in particular, caught my attention on the menu – the Kentucky Hot Brown. Having never heard of it before, I decided to give it a try, and I’m glad I did. The Kentucky Hot Brown is a beloved regional dish consisting of an open-faced sandwich with layers of tender roasted turkey, crisp bacon, and creamy Mornay sauce, all served on toasted bread. At Fava’s Restaurant, they elevate this classic by adding tomatoe slices and broiling it to perfection, ensuring that every bite is a symphony of flavors and textures. The Kentucky Hot Brown is a true delight for the senses, a must-try when visiting the Bluegrass State.
